2!

Lauren is partying it up full force tonight in celebration of being 2. I hear there is some serious concern about whether she is going to make it to daycare with the sugar hangover.

She has been sporting two of her favorite items since opening them and was planning to wear them to bed if her parents weren't such fuddy-duddies.

She also got a cool new bike and I hear she is in talks with Lance about joining the Tour this summer.

A BIG Happy Birthday shout-out to the cutest little girl in Portland from her biggest fans in Texas.

And yes, that is her birthday beer.

Fu Nuggets

Zach and I were late getting to JT's baseball game last week. My mind was elsewhere - caught between work and the location of JT's missing sliding shorts when Zach starts the following conversation with me.

ZWL: Mom - Who made Jesus?
Me: What do you mean? God made Jesus. I mean..I pause to ponder how one describes immaculate conception to a kid.
ZWL: No mom, Jesus had God but someone had to have Jesus.
Me: Huh? I am not sure...
ZWL: Do you think the aliens made Jesus?

And then last night, here is another nugget he told me:

ZWL: I know why girls don't go in the boy's bathroom. (Zach and I and were in the bathroom togther).
Me: Why?
ZWL: Girls don't go in because they don't want to smell the farts.

Happy Birthday Grandpa Pete!

I have been trying to scan a photo, which I finally did but now my computer won't let me load Picassa to edit my photo. I will continue to try so I can give Grandpa Pete a proper birthday shout out!

That Thing

The  boys are getting big, really big. It is heartbreaking in a way and exciting as I know we have lots of adventures ahead of us. Of course, as they grow they start outgrowing some of the things that I've grown attached to. One such item is this silly little table I bought at an unfinished furniture store. It was one of those projects that I had great plans for but ended up painting it white and stupidly forgetting to seal it. The table has been well loved by the boys. It was used for countless art projects, served many a dinner with special guests, and easily converted to a fort when needed but it is too small for my two growing boys. I held on to it for as long as possible but realized that it was time to let go. Fortunately for me, I was able to find a good home with Izzy's brand new cousin Brooke. It will need to be cleaned up and painted but I am thrilled to know that Brooke will get her chance to make some fabulous projects and eat meals at it.

Before I passed on the table, I took a few shots. I didn't want to give it away without capturing one of the best known Darth Vadars that have been drawn in this house.

Round Top

This was my 3rd year at Round Top and I love it just a little more every year. Each year is filled with interesting people and loads of interesting items for sale.I love to see some of the collections that people put together and what pieces seem to be the hot items (by hot I mean multiple dealers have them in their booth).  I usually find myself wishing I had a bigger house, a large truck to haul everything in and wishing we had rented a hotel room. This year may have been one of the best because Chandra and I got to go without kids.

I didn't get too many shots but here are some of my favorite items.

Who Doesn't Need Civil War Barbies?

Lots of turkeys this year - I came home and made sure mine were in a safe place.

No clue really what was going on here but I had to pull Chandra away from buying this one.

This isn't an antique but who doesn't love bad grammar?

This is my purchase - you can't tell from here but you open it and there is a hidden leaf that makes it into an oval shape table. My purpose for going was to get a new dining room table but I didn't find one. I settled for this table and admittingly I had some buyers remorse but I think I am over it.

Chandra and I agreed we will go to the much smaller October Round Top event and see what we can find. Come on down if you are interested in going.

A Peace Offering

I have not been able to blog much lately. I have a long, long list of excuses but rather than bore you I present instead two pictures of the cutest girl in Portland and a promise to get some blog updates done (fingers-crossed it may happen tonight!).

Chicks are Back

Happy Easter from the Lucas Family!
Our weekend has been quiet and uneventful; house cleaning, fence repairing, baseball playing, baking, and egg dying.
We hope you are all enjoying your Easter weekend.
The chicks came back out this year and again this year I found that someone had been messing with them.
