The Dynamic Duo Takes on the Hood

Zach and JT went Trick or Treating tonight and had a grand time. It was Zach's first time out. Zach was thrilled to get lots of suckers. The candy has been put up high, Rick and I are relaxing, and hoping to get back on track after a very, very hectic past week and a half.

No Cake for You!

Since Zach had been sick at the party and even though we were sure it was because of his eating methods we didn't want to risk it by giving him cake. This was of course very upsetting.

A Very Long Week

What a busy week it has been. It started with t-ball practices, a field trip, JT's birthday )which included a new bike, miniature golf, and chicken wings at Pluckers), parent/teacher conferences, doctor's appointment, two t-ball games, one wild birthday party, a t-ball party to celebrate the end of the season, and a play at a local high school. Needless to say we were all exhausted on Sunday. I of course caught a horrible stomach virus late Saturday to end the wild week.

The party was lots of fun minus a few JT breakdowns and Zachy puking after he shoved one too many pieces of lunchmeat in his mouth without chewing. The biggest hit was Suzette's extraordinary spider cake that actually bleed (strawberry jam) when it was cut. Unfortunately this turned off a few of the young cake eaters. The second hit was bobbing for apples, which was JT's game idea.

I'll upload more photos soon but here are few to enjoy.

Someone is turning 5 this week

JT's 5th birthday is this Wednesday and we have a hectic week planned. His official party is on Saturday and I've hit the panic mode about having enough of everything and worried about what to serve. The only saving grace at this point is that Suzette is making the coolest cake ever; one less thing for me to worry about.

I can't promise any news this week but come Sunday there should be a full birthday report.

Cool Ts

Things got crazy here on Monday and the temperature dropped to 70 degrees. This prompted JT to ask for his long sleeve t-shirts, which resulted in Zach finding the Thomas t-shirt (my least favorite shirt). Zach put his on that night, slept in it, and then as predicted refused to take it off and wore it to school. JT on the other hand tried on all his shirts, decided he needs to go shopping for new clothes, and that he wanted to wear his cool beer t-shirt that Reah bought him to school. I've never seen two children so excited over t-shirts. JT didn't get kicked out school for his shirt but I am not sure how many people here know about the Terminator Stout from the Kennedy School in Portland.

?

JT is big into having us read chapter books. Tonight while reading he asked, "Mom, did they just have a mystery there?" The book is called "Ghosthunters" so I thought maybe he was trying to catch up with the story. So I asked he what he meant. He pointed to a question mark on the page and said "Right there. Is that where the mystery is?"

Pumpkin Time!

I held off as long as I could on getting pumpkins. The boys and I went to one of the local churches in town that host a pumpkin patch. This was Zach's first year picking a pumpkin as last year the pumpkin crop was bad and there wasn't a pumpkin to be had. Now we just have to wait a few more weeks until we can carve them.

Get on Your Bikes and Ride!

Fall has hit Texas, which means it is a lovely 87 degrees when I get in from work. This is perfect weather for a little bike riding especially when you are JT and you can ride without your training wheels. We've had a few trial and errors with riding without the tws but this time it is official.

Back in the Bunks Again

A while back JT got bunks bed. While Zach was still in his crib, JT got both beds to himself, one as a fort and one as his sleeping quarters. Then they moved in together and the bunk beds came down. We promised JT that when he turned 5, we would put the bunk beds back together. Well, he is a few weeks from 5 and not a day goes by that he doesn't remind that we promised him bunk beds.

Rick (who is in a very good mood since the Sooners won and USC was upset by Stanford), sweetly agreed to put the bunks together. After completion JT and I talked about how he needs a shelf and a little light. He immediately suggested we take a trip to Ikea. He has all sorts of ideas of things he wants, including a hanging swing chair. I am so proud of my little interior decorator who agreed with Nana Juju's belief that rearranging your room is good for you.

Both boys are very excited; however, Zach doesn't fully understand that the top bunk isn't his. They are in bed now. So far we have had one unsuccessful attempt with the boys sleeping together up top. Zach is still up and talking to himself. JT just came out and insists that Zach wants him to sleep on the bottom with him. This should be a fun night.

BIG Blog News!

A moment we have been waiting and not so secretly hinting at has arrived; JT and Zachy are going to have a cousin! We are all very excited.
We explained to JT that Gavin and Reah were having a baby to which he replied, "Cool!" and then asked what cousin meant. He wasn't too thrilled with our response ("It means Gavin won't be buying you anymore cool toys."). I don't think JT has even put together that he will now have to share Nana Juju and Grandpa Pete with yet another kid.

We are crossing our fingers for a girl but mostly we are thrilled that April will bring the family a new baby.

Happy pregnancy Reah!
