9 Years

9 years ago Rick and I got married. It was a fabulous day. While I am sure I should spend the day reminiscing about the ceremony or the reception, I've found myself thinking more about the day after the wedding. Despite being exhausted, despite Rick's dad being sick and hospitalized, despite only briefly seeing my parents late Saturday night after all was said and done, Rick and I woke early, too early, hopped in an electric blue rental car with Barb and Allen and drove to Seattle for a Mariners game. Seriously, most brides today get up on Sunday, have a brunch with friends and family and relax but I went to a baseball game. Baseball, baseball, baseball...

I've had a fabulous 9 years with Rick better than I think I could have dreamt of 9 years ago while sitting at Safeco field. We are blessed with our health, two fabulous little boys, one super cute niece, a supportive and loving extended family, and some truly wonderful friends.

Of course now I can't help but wonder where we will be in 9 more years but my guess is that there is a good chance we will be at a baseball game. And that is ok with me.

Winner, Winner Chicken Dinner part 2

Another weekend of t-ball and this time we claimed first place. We played 5 games in 3 days and it was loads of fun to watch all of the boys have some fabulous plays and hits. We have one more weekend of t-ball, the official Championship tournament (sounds serious). Hopefully we can stay undefeated this weekend as well. I am going to take my flip and try to get some video of JT because outside of watching him have some great moves at 1st base, the most fun part is watching him reenact some of the moves he has picked up from watching way too much ESPN (there was a ball spike after a final out to end the game, kissing the sky Sammy Sosa style, this little fist bump after a home run). JT wears a very serious face at all times during the game but as soon as he is done he talks about how much fun he is having. We will keep playing until it is no longer any fun.

sexy for the summer

Instead of stressing about losing weight, looking good in my swimsuit, and looking fabulous for Rick's 21st high school reunion, I opted to get the boot. It is easier, takes attention off all my problem areas. I get to wear this baby all day and all night; yes that means I get to sleep in it. I also get to wear it in 100 degree weather while watching countless t-ball games. I am the luckiest gal in the world!

The real problem here is that I developed plantar fasciitis a few months ago. I ignored it for the most part believing it would go away. Then slowly, it kept me from being able to really run but I ignored that and kept pushing on until about two weeks ago, I went for a run and while the run felt great by that evening I was barely able to walk. I had pain that stretched from my foot to my hip. Turns out that along with the PF, I've developed tendinitis in my ankle. The doctor gave me the boot as she believed the best treatment at this point is to immobilize my foot. I should have this baby for 3-6 weeks along with some PT, which I start today. Let's hope this works. I will at least be sporting one nicely tanned leg and one white leg for our summer vacation.

chillaxing

While most Texans are enjoying their summer pool-side, we are spending our weekends cheering for the Pflugerville Heat. Last weekend we started our Pool Play for the Championship Tournament. I really have no idea how it all works but I just sound like a knowledgeable t-ball mom when I say it. Prior to the first of three games, JT announced that he needed to chilllax in the car on the ride to the game. I spent the previous night while everyone else was hiding from the tornadoes, finally figuring out how to use an ipod I was gifted long ago (sorry to that very sweet friend that gave me the ipod, rest assured that it is now getting the love you hoped it would) JT listened to Band of Horses pregame and then moved to the Flaming Lips for the second and third game.
We are looking at the possibility of 5 games this weekend. Yay us! I'll no doubt have more photos. I'll keep you posted on JT's play list as well. He asked for Spoon and Foo Fighters to be added to the rotation.

Winner, Winner Chicken Dinner

Our weekend consisted of 5 t-ball games played over a 2 day period, one dinner at Pluckers, and a rocking 2cd place trophy for our first All-Stars tournament. We are back to tournament play this weekend. I have yet to master finding a snack that will please all 12 kids but I have not given up hope. I do have mass quantities of granola bars that apparently kids no longer like if anyone needs a snack.
Here are some of the Pflugerville Heat with their "totally wicked" baseball backpacks. Note that JT is #32 (Josh Hamilton's number).

And in baseball related news. JT has taken to drawing/developing logos for future baseball teams. Upon request I rattled off a list of options: Spiders, Stick Men, Monkeys and somewhere is there were the Sugar Mamas. This is the official logo for the Sugar Mamas. Note the far left corner is the logo that will appear on hats etc and the larger image is the official team logo. Not sure on the team colors but I will keep you all posted.

Happy Birthday Nana Juju

June 9 is the day to celebrate Nana Juju.
The boys gave her a ring this morning to wish her happy birthday! And while Nana Juju may be concerned about her undisclosed age, JT thinks her age is better than being 108 and Zach doesn't really care how old Nana is as long as she can continue to whistle with him on the phone. A few hours have past and Zach is still talking about how Nana can whistle.

Happy Birthday Mom!

Good Bye Kindergarten

The Brookhollow Kindergartners had their end of year award ceremony. It was a cute ceremony and I managed to keep it together (for the most part). Hard to believe a full year is over.

The boys made fast friends with the Layne kids this year and it is just a bit obvious who Zachy likes the best.

Notice the stellar hand positioning Zachy has. I need to also mention here that later this same day we met the Basharas for custard. Zachy snuggled up close to Chandra and despite having Josh on his other side tried some similar moves on her. At least the kid has good tastes in chicks.
