20 Years and Running

Had you told these ladies 20 years ago that one would live in Nebraska with 2 boys, the other in Texas with 2 boys and twin girls and that for a fun weekend we would get together to run 13.1 miles; we would have laughed.

The race details aren't pretty for me but I finished. Lexi had a rocking time but her post race wasn't so enjoyable. Perhaps  next time we will find cheer-leading uniforms and pina coladas instead of a half-marathon. Regardless of what we are doing, we will no doubt have fun.

Mad Science

Science projects have to be on the top 10 list of parents most annoying school activities. JT and I have had two unsuccessful attempts with science projects.  In 4th grade it is required that you complete a project. We talked to JT about timelines, staying on top of the project, and most importantly that I had no desire to be working on it the night before it was due.

JT worked hard on his project, which he found in a book that Nana had given him (thanks!). He did most of it alone, which was impressive. But the best part, he took first place at school and qualified for the regional science fair. The second best part, he took first place at the regional fair.

It was a crazy day at the science fair and I wish I could explain the scene of me getting this photo but it involved two screaming babies, one attacking me for my camera, and one trying to crawl away (Zach and Rick were at baseball). Thankfully there was a former coworker at the science fair who took pity on me and held a screaming baby while I got one decent shot.

My Dirty Little Secret

Not a day goes by that I don't think about my blog and how (yes I know you've heard it before) remiss I am at keeping this blog up-to-date. Here is my dirty secret, I have stopped using my camera. It is really sad but I have a million excuses that I can share at anytime but perhaps the most honest is that most days it is just easier to grab my phone and take a quick photo, which often ends up on Instagram.

So if you aren't following me on your fancy smart phone, you aren't seeing any photos. The good news is that I busted out my camera again and snagged some shots of the chickens and I have big plans to invest in a new camera bag that will allow me to carry my camera and chicken supplies.Stay with me and I promise to do better.

Basketball Jones

Since JT is all me in every way, it came as a HUGE surprise that he wanted to branch out and try playing basketball this winter. He has embraced it, he loves it, and we couldn't be prouder of him for trying something new, all by himself.

Here he is trying for two free throws. He didn't make them, which he was bummed about but they were both close (bouncing off the rim close).

SHIT!

All I had to do was watch two babies while Rick was attending a morning meeting with the Pflugerville Education Association. All was good until a code brown in the tub ended with me emerging from the laundry room to discover this present. And yes, I did run to find my phone so I could take a photo before I cleaned it up. I would have grabbed my camera if my phone wasn't closer.

A View of One

Here are some photos of the girls opening their birthday presents. For ease of reference, Lizzie is in orange and Kat is in pink. They are just a year but it is clear their personalities are already breaking out. In the photo below, Kat is waiting on JT to open a tractor that goes with the farm they got for Christmas.

Note that Lizzie acknowledges that she will have to care for both babies. Cake photos will be next.
