The Life of Fu

Apparently all of those Star Wars battle reenactments at preschool have finally paid off. During the end of year Country Fair festival at school, Zach earned the "Best Imagination" award. Along with his award, Mama Horsey was named the "Strongest Horse" Zach is thrilled with both of their hard earned achievements.

Here is Zach's class with his teacher Ms. Lindsey who had the special privilege of teaching both Lucas boys. We are sad that Pond Springs won't be around next year and wish Ms. Lindsey lots of luck with her future endeavors.

How can Zach even think about starting summer without the coolest sunglasses ever. Yes that is Yoda on the lense.
And if you have made it this far, you need a few Fuisms.

Fuism #1 - We are all in the car going to the Lucas Family's favorite restaurant (Pluckers) and Rick was bragging that he could take the all you can eat challenge and eat at least 80 wings. None of us acknowledged Rick's ridiculous announcement until Zach responded with "Seriously Dad"

Fuism #2 - I was away this past Saturday during t-ball practice and while Rick was helping JT, Zach sat with one of the moms. Now keep in mind that this is an All-Stars team that we just joined and we don't know many of the parents. While sitting with this mom, Zach announced "My mom doesn't wear underwear." For the record, I do wear underwear.

Fuism #3 - After a Zach and JT brawl, JT was sent to the bathtub while Zach ate his dinner. Again in the midst of silence (a moment that rarely occurs these days) Zach announced, "Let's get rid of JT." We won't be doing that soon although we are accepting offers just in case.

malibu barbie

I once had a Malibu Barbie. She was probably one of the coolest I had. I also remember one day that I sat in the basement and gave Malibu a haircut. I can't recall if I got in trouble but I do remember being disappointed that I didn't have the hair cutting talent that I thought I did. I was thinking about that Barbie tonight and telling JT about my misadventure after he asked if I would cut his hair. He never wants to cut his hair (some of you may have noticed). I hesitated, I questioned, I decided to try it. At first he just wanted his bangs trimmed to ensure he could see the ball tomorrow at All-Stars practice. Then he started asking whether he and I had the same hair. Some of you may have heard the story of JT telling me he wouldn't cut his hair because then people may not know that he was my kid. We talked about all the other ways that we looked that same and I told him that even if he shaved his head people would know that he belonged to me. Well that got JT to thinking and after I trimmed his bangs, he asked for a few other modifications. The end result isn't as drastic as Malibu Barbie but I don't think I will be able to change careers any time soon. I urged JT to consider going to get it professionally trimmed tomorrow but he said he wanted to keep it the way it was. He still looks cute, I don't think that will change, but I am filled with a weird sense of guilt, sadness, and a tad bit of joy. After it was over JT put it best when he said, "Mom, my hair grows really fast so it doesn't matter what you do." I think there will be some touch-ups in the morning but this do will work for now.

Josh Hamilton - Again!

In case you didn't know, Josh Hamilton the outfielder for the Texas Rangers and the player JT and Zach were tracking last year during our Baseball Odyssey, injured his ribs a few weeks ago. He just happened to be in town on Sunday to do some rehab with the Oklahoma City Red Hawks.

JT waited patiently at the start of the game by the locker room but Josh went to the field without signing an autographs. JT and his buddies spent the entire game on the berm by center field waving to Josh and tyring to coax a ball from the Red Hawks bullpen.

After the 8th inning, Josh left the game and Rick and JT ran over to try and get an autograph.

After JT got Josh's autograph, Rick picked up Zachy so Zach could say hi to Josh. Josh turned to see Zachy and said "aren't you one of the kids I've been waiving at in center field?" Zachy thought that was one of the coolest things ever. Although Zach was mad that Josh didn't sign his Astros hat but we didn't want to push our luck and there were plenty of other people waiting for their turn.
After the autograph, JT ran back to the center field berm and at the end of the game, got the ball from the bullpen he had been waiting for. It was a great mother's day.

The Cutest 1 Year Old in PDX

Hard to believe that Lauren is 1 and that I missed posting about her 1st Birthday a few weeks ago. I think I am just in denial because I also have yet to mail Lauren her birthday present. Good thing Lauren is too young to care that packages are late.

Here is one of her latest photos. I am pretty sure see needs to start planning her Texas tour.

zebra

After school the other day the boys were hanging out in the front room. It is a pleasant time of day when both boys play together peacefully. Rick could hear the boys laughing and didn't think anything of it until JT presented his master piece - Zach the Zebra!

Thankfully, I got smart a few years back and we now only have washable markers so Zachy was clean before I got home from work.

baseball

JT eats, drinks, and sleeps baseball. Tonight he got his first official phone call from a friend that just wanted to chat about the Grand Slam that Salty hit during tonight's Rangers game.

It comes as no surprise then that last week after a Wednesday night Sidewinders game, JT barely made it home and when he did get to bed, he fell asleep in his uniform top and hat. JT asked this year to play All Stars, which is basically three intense weekends of games and we agreed. Stay tuned for more updates on All Stars.
