The Perfect Moment

This is the best moment of the night. We are done with countless cries for band-aids, milk, water, someone to cuddle with, and on and on. It is the moment when Rick and I collapse on the couch and finally have two minutes to talk before we have to get up and tackle one last thing on our to-do lists.

In other news, JT has officially and finally started riding his bike sans training wheels. We will post some photos soon.

CATCHING

Week 2 of Fall T-Ball and JT got to start this week's game as catcher. I've never seen someone happier to put on catcher's gear in 95 degree weather than JT. He was lost at first but we had a great umpire that helped direct him as to what he was supposed to be doing. By the end of the game, he was standing at home plate waiting for the ball to be thrown in.

We had a better weekend playing T-ball as both of the teams we played were more in to having fun than winning. I think we need to thank the Yankees for helping our team put the game in to perspective. While we waited to take our dugout, some of the Yankee players (who wear dark navy uniforms) said to the coach that they were hot. The coach pulled the team aside and told (or rather yelled at) them that they were not allowed to complain about the heat, the only thing they needed to be thinking and worrying about was whether or not they were going to get three outs and win the game. He then told them that it was not hot outside and he did not want to hear another kid mention it. Not sure what the lesson was on that one.

Happy Birthday to our bestest friends who are far, far away in Minnesota. We miss you and hope you come back to Texas soon. Happy 7th to Owen and Happy 6th to Miles. We love you!

The photo on the bottom is from 2004. One of our many wild nights.

The Latest Draft Pick for the Texas Rangers

Fall Ball has started. Much to our surprise the noncompetitive, fall t-ball season is a bit more serious than spring league. At least this is how Rick and I feel; JT is absolutely in love with the game and was ecstatic to play two games on Saturday in the 90 degree heat. I think his favorite part of game 2 was when the team mom gave each boy a wet washcloth from the cooler to put around their necks. JT almost missed his turn batting he was so thrilled with this new treat. I told Rick he will probably have to start bringing cold washcloth to the park for JT.

The photos are JT's "mean" baseball face and his "I can't wait to play, stop taking photos" face. He says he loves playing and loves the practices. As long as he loves it, Rick and I will endure the parents who believe that t-ball will lead to their child playing professionally in 20 years and the dad's reliving their high school baseball days.

Zach Attack

I am dedicating an entire post to Zachy. Primarly because many of you have not had the pleasure of hanging with Zach but also because 20 years down the road, I want to prove to him that I had just as many photos and did things for him that I didn't do for JT.

The easiest thing to say about Zach is that he is CRAZY. A friend once told me he loves watching Zach because you can tell that no matter what is going on around him, he is in his own little world, devising his own little plan. Most of these plans involve destruction, specifically destruction of anything that will upset JT.

When Zach isn't destroying, he is absolutely adorable. He knows this and will usually give you a sweet little smile that makes it hard to be angry at him even though he did something rotten like, dumping orange juice all over the coffee table in an attempt to pour his own cup because Rick wasn't answering his request quick enough.

The other night after putting the boys to sleep, Zachy was three appearances in to his nightly routine of coming out of his bedroom to request something like milk, a band-aid for a boo-boo, or just to see what it is we are doing. Rick suggested that this time we ignore him. So the two of us sat still pretending to be absorbed in the paused TV program. Zach sensing he wasn't getting the typical "Go to bed" treatment, beelined it for a small plastic bug that was on the floor. He picked it, inspected it and then declared "Bug! Ouch!" repeatedly while proudly showing us the bug. He then came up next to me, walked the bug up my arm while make some growling sounds and repeated "Bug! Ouch!" Rick and I busted out laughing, which satisfied Zach and he took his bug to bed and remained there until the morning.

If anyone is interested in spending time with Zach, just let us know. We are more than happy to ship him anywhere for an extended visit. We promise it will be hours of entertainment.

School!

Here are the boys heading out for their first day of school. This is JT's last year at Pond Spring WEE (it is a two day a week school) and Zachy's first year. JT is a Freckled Frog (PreK) this year and Zachy is a Pokey Puppy.

These Boots Were Made for Walking

He has a small obsession with these boots. He used to wear JT's, which were far too big and he would trip each time he walked Then as luck would have it he discovered these in Target one day. He wore them through the store while I shopped. Thankfully Texas has had an abnormal amount of rain this summer so Zachy has been ready.

We are blogging

Hard to believe but I've decided to jump in to the blogging world. My hope is that this will be a better way to keep everyone updated on what we are doing since I've been remiss in keeping in touch with some of you. We will see how it goes.
I'll send an update this weekend when I get some photos added.
Save our page, visit often, and I'll promise to keep it updated.
Thanks JGM for letting me borrow your idea.
